Wet Zone Remediation

"We knew our shower needed replacing, but kept putting it off because we thought it meant renovating the whole bathroom."

Repair. Renew. Protect.
Older showers were often constructed using wet-area systems that differ considerably from those used today.
Depending on the age and construction of the bathroom, waterproofing may be limited, deteriorated or absent, while grout joints, penetrations, junctions and movement within tiled surfaces can create multiple points requiring ongoing maintenance.
Aureumus does not simply conceal these conditions beneath a new finish. The existing shower is assessed first to determine what can remain and what requires removal, repair or reconstruction.
Where deterioration is identified, affected wall linings and substrates can be replaced and the wet zone appropriately prepared and waterproofed before new finishes are installed. Where existing conditions remain suitable, a more limited intervention may be possible.
Engineered wall panels then replace the traditional field of tiles and grout joints with large-format, non-grouted surfaces, reducing the number of joints and interfaces within the shower that traditionally require maintenance and can become vulnerable over time.
The result is not simply a different-looking shower. It is an opportunity to address the condition behind the existing finish while simplifying the finished wet-zone construction in front of it.
Choose your scope
Shower screen, tapware and localised wall sections are removed to provide access for preparation works. The area is relined where required before waterproofing, wall panels, a new shower screen and existing shower fittings are installed.
Shower screen, tapware and localised wall sections are removed to reveal deterioration. Minor framing repairs are completed before new wall linings and waterproofing are applied. New wall panels, shower screen and removed shower fittings are then installed.
Wet zone reconstruction and waterproofing are delivered where deterioration extends beyond localised repairs. Following completion of remedial works, new wall panels, shower screen and removed shower fittings are installed as part of the completed remediation.
